I was given the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife with Fire Starter as a gift for Christmas. This knife has more gadgets and fun features than any other Survival Knife I’ve ever owned. As an avid backpacker and outdoor adventurer I am always looking for combination items that offer multiple uses without additional parts, pieces, and size concerns. This knife ranks high on my list of best outdoor knives. So enjoy the following Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife Review.
Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Knife Review Features
1. Knife Uses
This knife is the perfect size for small jobs of cutting rope to larger jobs of cutting through wood. Its light weight and with many options for how and where to carry it. It doesn’t have a bunch of parts and everything securely fits together. With all its features it takes the place of a small blade, a hatchet, fire starter, survival guide, and more! This has become a staple in my pack for any trip into the outdoors.
2. The Blade
The Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Knife is the appropriate name for this tool. The knife itself is half serrated to make easy work out of a multitude of jobs. Its stainless steel blade is 4.75 inches long. It comes with a durable sheath that offers a secure fit but easy access. Steel blades don’t dull as easily as other blades and resist rust. The Ultimate Survival Knife hilt also includes a sharpener built right in! The hilt includes two holes at the base of the blade so you can strap the knife securely to a branch or stick if you need additional leverage or reach.
As if that wasn’t enough (which it is) there is an easy to use Fire Starter on the front of the hilt. The Fire Starter is an easy to use ferrocerium rod in an airtight holder and striker. This Fire Starter will work even when wet and cold! All these features and its durability make it more than worth its weight. Which isn’t much at only 14.72 oz.
This survival knife also includes a holder that can be strapped to your leg or belt loop. This holder includes a guide to basic survival tucked right into the back. The guide is also waterproof and nests perfectly in a small pouch in the holder. It includes tips on everything from fire starting to rescue signals. This knife is truly a “do it all” Ultimate Survival tool! I can’t imagine you could need another knife in your gear other than the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Knife Review.
